    CX

    Digital Cable Tension Meter
    Model CX-Series

Indicate Cable Tension in Lbs, KG, or daN.

Digital Cable Tension Meters are used to measure tension(s) on cables. The Model CX series offers users utmost accuracy over a wide variety of cable sizes.

    CX main screen

Display shows tension, name of calibration selected, running line minimum and maximum tension values, and battery charge level.

    STX - Data Logging

Data Logging has adjustable duration and sampling rates. Large, easy to read backlit, graphic display with adjustable backlighting and contrast.

  • Select tension values to display in lbs, Kg, or Decanewtons.
  • Select cable size from menu. Instrument automatically adjusts calibration for your specific setting.
  • Accuracy is +/- 2% full-scale for all menu-selectable calibrations. Accuracy for custom calibrations is material specific
  • Up to 10 calibrations can be programmed into instrument. (All calibrations password protected.)
  • Adjustable LCD refresh rates allow for stable digital readings.
  • All models typically available from stock.
  • All models factory-calibrated and ready for use.
  • Calibration values traceable to National Standards. Calibration certificate included.

    CX-2000 100 - 2,000 lb lbs 10 lb

    Available Options for all Instruments
  • Note: Add option-designator letter to the end of the Model Number. (For example, a Model CX-1000-E denotes a standard CX-1000 with the optional RS-232, serial output function included.)

A   Analog Output OptionAnalog Output Option for measuring tension values. 0-5 VDC or 4 -20 mA with software-definable ending sequences. Provided with 10' cable. Data outputted at 40Hz.
E  RS-232 Serial Output OptionProvided with 10' cable to interface with your receiving device. Select data sampling rate from 1, 2 or 5 Hz.
D  Data Logging OptionCapture and view data within a user-defined time window. Select the time window; then select the sampling rate (from 1-100 Hz). After capturing the data, review the data on the instrument's display or upload it using the 10' serial interface cable.

  • Instruments can be configured with any or all of these options.

Input Real-Time Serial Data into any Windows¢ç application using any number of software programs, such as WinWedge Pro for Windows, or configure your Windows¢ç operating system to capture the data via HyperTerminal¢ç.

Tensitron's Cable Tension Meters are designed for use on flexible materials with diameters up to ¨ú" (19mm). The diameter and rigidity of your cable constructions will determine the CX Model best suited for your application.

Wire Rope Constuctions are determined by the number of strands, and the number of wires per strand. For example, a 7 x 7 rope consists of 7 strands, and each strand is made with 7 wires.

1x7 Cable      CX main screen   CX main screen    CX main screen

        1 x 7        1 x 19     7 x 7      7 x 19

Generally, any wire rope constructed from solid, single strands (for example; 1 x 6, 1 x 7 or 1 x 19) will be too stiff to allow accurate tension measurements using a tension meter. These types of non-flexible wire-rope constructions are widely used on standing rigging, such as communication towers and sail boat rigging. Excessively stiff cables will cause overloading and damage to the instrument.

7 x 7 and 7 x 19 constructions are used when flexibility in the cable is required. The CX-Series of digital tension meters are designed to measure tension on these types of cables.

The diameter and rigidity of your cable constructions will determine the instrument best suited for the application, but the line speeds of your processes must also be considered. Although the cable tension meters are extremely versatile, it is not always possible to measure tension in all of your processes with one type of instrument (or one instrument model). Kindly contact one of our application engineers for help in selecting the right instrument for your specific application.
